Quick Answer
Best overall: November through April — Jamaica's dry season delivers consistently sunny, low-humidity days with little rain. December through February is peak season with the best weather and highest prices.
Best value: May — weather is still good, crowds drop, pricing falls 15 to 25% below peak. Tina's favorite month for Jamaica bookings.
Exercise caution: September and October carry the highest statistical hurricane risk.
Month-by-Month
November through April — Dry Season
This is Jamaica at its best. Low humidity, consistent sunshine, virtually no rain, water temperatures in the 26 to 28°C range. Seven Mile Beach in February is as good as any beach experience gets. This is peak season — book well in advance, expect peak pricing.
December through January is the busiest and most expensive window. February through March is the sweet spot of dry season quality with slightly easier availability than December and January.
May — Tina's Recommended Value Window
The transition month between dry season and rainy season. Weather is still genuinely excellent — warm, mostly sunny, light humidity compared to full summer. School is in session so resort crowds drop sharply. Pricing falls 15 to 25% below December peak. Tina books significant Jamaica volume in May for exactly this reason.
June and July — Early Rainy Season
Rain becomes more regular — brief afternoon showers rather than all-day downpours in most years. Humidity increases significantly. Hurricane season starts June 1 but actual storm risk in June and July is historically low for Jamaica. Pricing is at value levels. Good for couples who are flexible on dates and want maximum resort value.
August through October — Peak Hurricane Window
Jamaica has been affected by significant hurricanes — this is a real consideration. The statistical risk of a major storm is highest during this window. Some years pass without incident; others see significant weather events. If you book during this period, comprehensive travel insurance covering hurricane cancellation is absolutely mandatory — no exceptions.
October and November
Hurricane risk drops sharply after mid-October. Late October and November see improving conditions — drier, less humid, returning toward dry season quality. Pre-December shoulder pricing makes this a good value window for couples with flexible dates. Thanksgiving week sees a pricing spike; the weeks before and after are better value.
Jamaica vs. Cancún — Timing Comparison
Both destinations have similar dry season windows (November through April). Jamaica tends to be slightly wetter and more tropical during the rainy season than Mexico's Yucatán, which gets more afternoon showers and less all-day rain during summer months. For peak hurricane risk, September and October are similar for both destinations — though Jamaica's position in the main hurricane belt makes it slightly higher risk than Cancún's latitude suggests.
